Animal Operations

Animal Assessor
  • Assist with the behavioral assessment of dogs at PRH and interact with PRH staff members and volunteers.

  • Should know animal behavior and be comfortable handling dogs with which they have no history.

  • Time Commitment: Six Hours/week

Animal Liaison
  • Responsibilities: Assist with identifying animals currently at PRH who are at risk. Provide additional information about their situation (both medical and behavioral), and work in conjunction with the PRH Assessor Team.

  • Should be an active PRH volunteer in good standing and will abide by PRH requirements.

  • Time Commitment: Flexible schedule; up to 10 hrs/month​

Dog Training Specialist
  • Assist with addressing any dog behavior issues that arise. Maintain standard operating procedures for addressing common behavioral issues that arise with the dogs. Post-adoption, maintain close contact with the adoptive family to ensure that recommended training is taking place and adjust the program as needed until the animal is fully integrated into its new home.

  • Requirements: Must have prior behavior and training experience handling dogs.

  • Time Commitment: 5 hrs/month​

Dog Handler
  • Dog handlers are needed at our adoption events to manage leashed dogs, introduce them to potential adoptive families, walk the dogs on or off campus, and provide lots of love and affection. This is the best opportunity for the dogs to be seen by the public, learn walking manners, and possibly find their forever home. May also provide support in socializing adopted dogs.

  • Dog lover with prior experience handling dogs, possessing knowledge, and the ability to read dog body language. Must have a valid driver's license to transport dogs when necessary. Will require orientation and training.

  • Time Commitment: 6 hours per month​

Animal Transport
  • Transport volunteers use their personal vehicles to transport animals and/or supplies (i.e., rescue pick up, chauffeuring animals to/from medical or therapy visits, picking up donations, or helping with special event transport).  

  • Must have a reliable vehicle that is licensed and insured; the vehicle must have enough space for kenneled animals. Requires a valid driver's license.

  • Time Commitment: Flexibility of schedule; 4 hrs/week.

Adoption Operations

Adoption Coordinator (Dog)
  • ​Provide excellent customer service and assist adopters/potential adopters with their needs. Respond to general inquiries about assistance with pets and address phone and email inquiries received by the organization; provide answers to questions about PRH dogs, policies, and general information. Assist in finalizing adoptions by uploading adoption agreements into the database. Provide adopters with electronic copies of all medical records. Register microchips and provide this information with additional post-adoption support resources. Update data fields in the database.

  • Superior customer service and responsiveness. Needs to have access to email throughout the day. Volunteers should possess a solid working knowledge of PRH, including its history, mission, and procedures, as well as a thorough understanding of the current inventory.

  • Time Commitment: Ongoing commitment; flexible *This is a virtual opportunity​

Adopter Follow-Up Program
  • Serve as a liaison between PRH and adopters, providing ongoing post-adoption support and assistance. Contact adopters periodically to check on how the pet is doing in its new home.

    • 3 days post adoption

    • 3 weeks post adoption

    • 3 months post adoption

    • 1 yr post adoption by email

  • Provide any necessary support or resources and answer any questions.

  • Strong organizational and follow-through skills. Volunteers should fully understand the adoption process and enjoy working with people.

Adoption Events Coordinator
  • Coordinate with partners for adoption events. Responsibilities also include posting adoption events on the PRH website and Facebook, as well as notifying Community Outreach and Social Media Coordinators of upcoming events to publicize. Updates internal database (Rescuegroups.org) regarding attendance of pets at each event.

  • Strong organizational and customer service skills.

  • Time Commitment: The time commitment varies depending on the calendar of Adoption Events.

Volunteer & Events Management

Volunteer Manager​
  • Bring new volunteers into the program by implementing innovative recruitment strategies. Retain reliable, committed volunteers: process inquiries and screen applicants. Recruit new volunteers for the program. Conducts volunteer orientation. Utilize Craigslist, volunteer job boards, and social media to recruit volunteers for specific needs. Coordinate volunteer recognition events, such as happy hours and social events (contact local restaurants, check out the facilities, secure the space for a large group at no charge, check for suitable parking and menu items, check calendars for conflicting events, send out invitations, arrive early to coordinate set-up, provide name tags, circulate at event and make any necessary introductions, etc.). Identify other unique ways to recognize existing volunteers. Help with any special recognition projects.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, highly organized, and the ability to handle sensitive or confidential information appropriately. A keen understanding of both people and pets. We are seeking individuals who share a strong passion for PRH's mission and a deep understanding of the requirements for a successful volunteer.

  • Time Commitment: 3 hrs/week

Events Planner/Manager
  • Coordinate and supervise volunteers in planning adoption, fundraising, and special events, such as booths at local festivals and community events, to promote PRH's message and encourage community participation.

  • Strong organizational and supervisory skills, enjoy working with people and pets, prior event planning experience preferred

  • Time Commitment:  3 hrs/week​

Youth Program Manager
  • Develop and manage youth programs that help young citizens grow into compassionate adults, responsible and better educated pet caregivers, and supporters of animal protection.

  • Demonstrate PRH values and ethics through effective communication skills, enthusiasm for our purpose, creative thinking, a positive outlook, and experience working with youth programs.

  • Time Commitment: 3hrs/week

Administrative

​Community Outreach Coordinators
  • Help promote surrender prevention, spay & neuter, vaccinations, microchipping, adoption events, fundraisers, and special pets in the community. May also provide educational materials on animal welfare resources available to neighborhoods or participate in special projects.

  • Volunteers should have a strong commitment to animal rescue, a thorough understanding of the adoption process, and enjoy working with people, as well as knowledge of animal welfare challenges.

  • Time Commitment: Flexible schedule and ongoing commitment. Multiple positions

Database & Documentation Editor
  • Provide administrative support and data management for the following:

    • Adoptive parent data management

    • Update and maintenance of adoption applications and related information

    • Adopter Monthly correspondence

    • Maintenance of Medical Files (paper/electronic)

    • Maintenance of mailing lists/communication

    • Inventory Management Supplies

  • Organizational and administrative skills; tech-savvy.

Marketing & Communications

Marketing Manager
  • Identify and execute marketing campaigns for the organization, events, programs, and adoptable animals. Contribute copy, content, and visual imagery for PRH publications, digital and social communication, and print collateral to engage targeted audiences. Help recruit, approve and oversee other marketing volunteers.

  • Requirements: Prior experience in marketing is required. Must be creative, have excellent organizational and communication skills.

  • Time Commitment: 3 hrs/week​

Communications Manager
  • Manage communication channels to grow awareness of PRH, its mission, brand, programs, and services. Oversee development of all PRH print communications, including marketing collateral materials and electronic communications, including PRH's website and new media; manage relationships with associated vendors. Serve as a spokesperson and lead point person on media interactions that help promote and/or impact the organization. Ensure that the PRH brand is consistent and accurately represents the organization's mission and goals. Maintain the organization's mailing lists and lead communication efforts out to various stakeholders of the organization (general public, volunteer population, donors, etc.). Work closely with the Marketing Manager and the PRH leadership team.

  • Must be creative, have excellent organizational and communication skills; experience with design software and computer programs (Microsoft Office, Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, social media platforms, etc). Able to manage a volunteer team with a passion for the PRH mission.

  • Time Commitment: 3 hrs/week​

Pet Profile Writer
  • Write colorful, accurate descriptions for our adoptable animals. The bios will be used on our website and social media platforms to introduce the animals to potential adopters. These profiles will need to be updated if the animal remains in PRH care for an extended period.

  • Good writing skills, including attention to grammar and sentence structure. Ability to write in a creative, positive style. Reliable computer and internet service.

  • Time Commitment: Flexible 3 hrs/week *This is a virtual opportunity​

Newsletter Editor
  • Create both the monthly Volunteer newsletter and Supporter/Past Adopter newsletter. Content will include information such as upcoming fundraising events and initiatives, a spotlight on community partners, animal care and training tips, happy tails, volunteer opportunities, and more.

  • Must be creative, tech-savvy, and have experience in creating an online and mailed newsletter.

  • Time Commitment: 5 hrs/month​

Social Media Manager
  • Lead the social media team in building and implementing social media programs. Ensure that appropriate messaging is executed online, incorporating platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Instagram. Serve as administrator for PRH's general and group Facebook pages.

    • Monitor other groups' pages for cross-posting material

    • Monitor both pages throughout the day to ensure posts follow basic protocols

    • Monitor and respond to posts, comments, and private messages from the public and adoptive families

    • Create and schedule postings that increase and retain Facebook followers (e.g., hosting photo contests, posting questions that spark discussions and the sharing of ideas, etc.).

    • Disseminate important information to our community, including volunteer opportunities, training tips, fundraising events, and volunteer social events.

    • Work with the creative team to keep the Facebook cover photo engaging

    • Maintain and engage with community partners connected through Facebook

  • Proficient in social media platforms. Experience in building and coordinating a team of volunteers. PR or marketing experience is a plus. Must maintain knowledge of our adoptable animals. Flexible schedule that allows for monitoring of all social media platforms throughout the day.

  • ​Time Commitment: This position can be shared among multiple admins, and requires someone who has access to social media throughout the day and can answer questions/Facebook messages as needed.​​

Web Designer/Developer
  • Responsible for website design and development, including creation of custom graphics, designing the user interface, and overall customer experience for our website. This includes overall navigation flow, layout of specific pages, and creation of individual graphic elements.

  • Previous experience in web design/development, technical capacity, and communication proficiency. 

  • Time Commitment: 0-15 hrs/week​

Photographer
  • Take striking photos of our adoptable animals to show them at their best, cropping and editing as needed. The animals' photos will be posted on PRH's website and social media to promote our animals for adoption. Photos may be taken in a studio, outdoors, or at adoption events. PRH can provide backdrops and other necessary equipment. ​

  • Time Commitment: 0-8 hrs/month​

Videographer
  • Responsibilities: Create compelling videos of our adoptable animals, document PRH special events, and assist in creating marketing campaigns. Videos will be posted on PRH's website and social media platforms to promote our organization and adoptable animals.

  • Time Commitment: 0-8 hrs/month​

Fundraising & Development

Donor Relations Manager
  • Primary liaison for PRH's community of donors. Responsible for cultivating, stewarding, and expanding the relationships with donors; providing communication and service to donors, maintaining and managing donor information, and engaging supporters. Also, responsible for maintaining donor database entries and issuing donor acknowledgements.

  • Experience in stewarding donors with strong interpersonal communication skills and able to build and sustain relationships through individual contacts. Experience in developing events, research, and planning.

  • Time Commitment: 10 hrs/month
