Marketing Mentor

Responsibilities: Share experience and marketing savvy with Marketing & Communication department leads to help them define and implement a strategic marketing plan.

Marketing Manager

Responsibility: Work across the organization to identify and execute marketing campaigns for the organization, events, programs and adoptable animals. Contribute copy, content and visual imagery for PRH publications, digital and social communication and print collateral to engage targeted audiences. Help recruit, approve and oversee volunteers in the Marketing Department.

Requirements: Prior experience in marketing is required. Must be creative, have excellent organizational and communication skills.

Time Commitment: 0 hrs/week

Graphic Designer

Responsibilities: Work closely with Marketing and Communications managers to create design solutions that have high visual impact for web and/or print to include ads, invitations, posters, newsletters, website graphics, etc. Must have a creative flair, up-to-date knowledge of industry software and a professional approach to time, costs and deadlines. Will need to be able to turn around design requests quickly.

Requirements: Graphic design and/or html and website development experience.

Time Commitment: 0-15 hrs/month *This is a virtual opportunity

Communications Manager

Responsibilities: Manage communication channels to grow awareness of PRH, its mission, brand, programs and services. Oversee development of all PRH print communications including marketing collateral materials and electronic communications including PRH’s website and new media; manage relationships with associated vendors. Serve as a spokesperson and lead point person on media interactions that help promote and/or impact the organization. Ensure that PRH brand is consistent and accurately represents the organization’s mission and goals. Maintain organization's mailing lists and lead communication efforts out to various stakeholders of organization (general public, volunteer population, donors, etc.). Work closely with Marketing Manager and PRH leadership team.

Requirements: Prior experience in marketing and communications. Must be creative, have excellent organizational and communication skills; experience with design software and computer programs (Microsoft Office, Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, social media platforms, etc). Able to manage a volunteer team with a passion for PRH mission.

Animal Marketing Evangelist

Responsibilities: Identify and enforce PRH marketing standards for our adoptable animals. May coordinate photo shoots, video shoots. Oversees bio writers, photographers, and the online posting team; ensures all adoptable animals have bios and photos online. Come up with fresh, innovative marketing campaigns for adoptable animals.

Requirements: Must be creative, tech savvy and have prior experience with rescue animals.

Time Commitment: 0-40 hrs/month

Pet Profile Writer

Responsibilities: Write colorful, accurate descriptions for our adoptable animals. The bios will be used on our website and social media platforms to introduce the animals to potential adopters. These profiles will need to be updated if the animal stays in PRH care for an extended period of time.

Requirements: Good writing skills including attention to grammar and sentence structure. Ability to write in a creative, positive style. Reliable computer and internet service.

Time Commitment: Flexible -3 hrs/week *This is a virtual opportunity

Newsletter Editor

Responsibilities: Work closely with copywriters, graphic artists and photographers to create both the monthly Volunteer newsletter and Supporter/Past Adopter newsletter. Content will include information such as upcoming fundraising events and initiatives, spotlight on community partners, animal care and training tips, happy tails, volunteer opportunities, etc.

Requirements: Must be creative, tech savvy, and have experience in creating an online newsletter.

Time Commitment: 0 hrs/month

Social Media Manager

Responsibilities: Lead the social media team in building and implementing social media programs. Ensure appropriate messaging is executed online incorporating Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, Pinterest, etc.

Requirements: Proficient in social media platforms. Experience building and coordinating a team of volunteers. PR or marketing experience a plus. Must maintain knowledge of our adoptable animals. Flexible schedule that allows for monitoring of all social media platforms throughout the day.

Time Commitment: 0-40 hrs/month

Social Media Team Member

Responsibilities: One team member for each of the following platforms: YouTube, Pinterest, Twitter, And Instagram. Keep audience engaged by providing information about upcoming fundraising events and initiatives, intros of new pets available for adoption, happy tails, volunteer opportunities, animal care and training tips, etc. Works with Social Media manager to provide and disseminate engaging, fun, educational content to be shared thru social media outlets.

Requirements: Proficient in social media platforms.

Facebook Administrator

Responsibilities: Serve as administrator for PRH’s general and group Facebook pages.

  • monitor other groups’ pages for cross-posting material

  • monitor both pages throughout the day to ensure posts follow basic protocols

  • monitor and respond to posts, comments and private messages from the public and adoptive families

  • Create and schedule postings that increase and retain Facebook followers (e.g., cute photo contests, posting questions which open up discussion and sharing of ideas, etc.)

  • Disseminate important information to our community including volunteer opportunities, training tips, fundraising events, volunteer social events, etc

  • Work with creative team to keep Facebook cover photo engaging

  • Maintain and engage with community partners connected thru Facebook

Requirements: Great people and communication skills, self-starter, animal rescue volunteer background a plus.

Time Commitment: This position can be shared among multiple admins, and requires someone who has access to FB throughout the day and can answer questions/Facebook messages as needed.

Public Relations Manager

Responsibilities: Work closely with the Management team and Marketing & Communications Manager to promote the organization and our adoptable animals to the public. Identify and maintain media contact list, draft press releases, and work with creative team on promoting specific events, and campaigns.

Requirements: Must have excellent writing and editing skills. PR background a plus.

Time Commitment: Flexible + hr/week. It is best to commit to a specific day each week to help manage workflow.

Craigslist Administrator

Responsibilities: Create and post creative, alluring Craigslist ads for our adoptable animals.

Requirements: Basic understanding of Craigslist, excellent writing and spelling skills.

Web Designer/Developer

Responsibilities: Responsible for website design and development, including creation of custom graphics, designing the user interface and overall customer experience for our website. This includes overall navigation flow, layout of specific pages, and creation of individual graphic elements.

Requirements: Previous experience in web design/development, technical capacity and communication proficiency. Ability to work in a team environment, flexible and the ability to work without a lot of lead time.

Time Commitment: 0-15 hrs/week

PRH Website Support

Responsibilities: Help keep the organization’s website installation and theme up to date and add new functionality as needed. Keep information up to date and fresh.

Requirements: Knowledge of HTML is desired, attention to detail.

Copywriter

Responsibilities: Work closely with Marketing and Communications managers to create clear, compelling and original copy for various communications to include ads, invitations, posters, newsletters, website content, etc.

Pet Photographer

Responsibilities: Take striking photos of our adoptable animals to show them at their best, cropping and editing as needed. The animals' photos will be posted on PRH’s website and social media to promote our animals for adoption. Photos may be taken in a studio, outdoors or at adoption events. PRH can provide backdrops and other equipment if needed.

Requirements: You must own a digital camera (an SLR camera is preferred) and have the ability to take nice, clear photos. Must have the technical ability to load and edit photos; reliable computer and internet service.

Time Commitment: -6 hrs/month

Event Photographer

Responsibilities: Document PRH events through pictures. Photographers will be photographing the crowd, events and activity, etc. It is a fun opportunity to help animals in need!

Requirements: You must own a digital camera (an SLR camera is preferred) and have the ability to take nice, clear photos. Must have the technical ability to load and edit photos; reliable computer and internet service.

Time Commitment: -6 hrs/month

Videographer

Responsibilities: Create compelling videos of our adoptable animals, document PRH special events, and assist in creating marketing campaigns. Videos will be posted on PRH’s website and social media platforms to promote our organization and adoptable animals.

Requirements: We welcome both experienced and novice videographers. Must be able to work with the creative team to bring their vision to life. Must supply your own equipment.

Time Commitment: No time commitment is necessary – our video marketing team will work around your schedule.

Video Editor

Responsibilities: Edit raw video footage of PRH special events and our adoptable animals. Videos will be posted on PRH’s website and social media platforms to promote our organization and adoptable animals.

Requirements: Experience with video editing software. Ability to input music, dialogue, graphics and effects as needed. Must be able to work with the creative team to bring their vision to life. Must supply your own equipment.

Flyer Distribution Manager

Responsibilities: Coordinate strategic posting of flyers at pet-friendly locations throughout the area. Need to also remove postings when animal has been adopted.

Requirements: Transportation required.

Etsy Shop Administrator

Responsibilities:

  • Procure pictures and item descriptions of artist’s creations

  • Contact Etsy artists when an item sells and money clears for shipping. Confirm shipping to notify buyer

  • Solicit items from artists outside the Etsy arena to be sold in the Etsy shop. Ship items to buyers as they are purchased

  • Coordinate with Social Media Team to ensure artists and their available items are regularly promoted

  • Create Etsy Treasuries promoting artists and including other shops that donate to animal rescues/welfare

  • Maintain relationship with SF Etsy Team to promote our shop/cause and encourage more artists to contribute

Time Commitment: 5 hrs/month *This is a virtual opportunity

Mission Ambassador/Face of PRH

Responsibilities: In conjunction with other PRH team members, use creative promotional strategies that will strengthen and promote PRH’s mission, brand and services to the community. Be a positive agent to create awareness and tell the world about why they should care about our mission as much as we do! Your efforts will help raise PRH profile and help our fundraising bottom line. Represent PRH at public speaking engagements such as fundraisers and events. Meet with the media as needed.

Requirements: Embody PRH values and ethics; great communication skills and an enthusiasm for our purpose; basic social media etiquette, creative thinking and a positive outlook.

Time Commitment: Flexible schedule and ongoing commitment.

Communications Specialist

Responsibilities: Writing, editing and coordinating the content of PRH internal/external newsletters, create and distribute newsletters in Mailchimp, maintain mailing lists, manage communication calendar.

Requirements: Demonstrated experience managing newsletters (experience with Mailchimp a must); a strong sense of professionalism and excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication; Ability to collaborate effectively with a variety of cross functional teams.

Time Commitment: -10 hrs/month

Collateral Coordinator

Responsibilities: Main point of contact for ordering PRH collateral for different departments and groups including Volunteer T-shirts, business cards, etc.; maintaining inventory of collateral materials; Coordinate with design team and distribute T-shirt for general public purchase; track inventory and distribution.

Requirements: Experience ordering and maintaining inventory; strong organization skills.

Time Commitment: -8 hrs/month

PR Team Member

Responsibilities: Works directly with the PR Manager and Communications; providing support, planning, research local press outlets and tactical execution of public relations strategy.

Requirements: Exceptional writing skills including strong copywriting skills; experience writing press releases; strong project management skills and ability to independently manage deadlines.
