My name is Jasper. I am around 8 years old (Aug 2022) and am a cattle dog mix without the insane energy I had as a younger boy. I had a great dad when I lived on the Navajo reservation. Unfortunately my dad had a stroke and could not take care of me or my buddy Yogi anymore. My aunt took us to Pets Return Home.I am somewhat aloof and independent. I do not really play much with the other dogs. Partly because I have a hip problem. There is no surgery needed. But I will require those yummy glucosamine/MSM treats for the rest of my days. I can go on short walks say a half mile or so but then I get slower. I am a lucky dog! I get treats for my whole life every day now.There is a little dog named Alyssa who is my shadow. She follows me around everywhere I go. We look funny together. She is really frightened of people but has made a lot of progress since meeting me. If you have the room and the heart to take us both and do not expect a lot of lovin from Alyssa until much later we promise to make you smile laugh and feel good for rescuing us. More than likely we will end up in the Sanctuary program here otherwise.I am friendly with people kids and dogs. These puppies here aggravate me sometimes but I give them a mean look and they head for the watering dish. I come when called listen well and will lay by myself all day if necessary – inside or out. Will you come to adopt me? Alyssa too? We are low maintenance! Please? I promise to snuggle listen love and bring joy to you. Alyssa will come around eventually too. I really want to start my senior years with a family.
